Students are studying the literary elements and techniques during our first quarter Language Arts unit. The 7th grade unit will focus on strange and mysterious short stories. We will be reading classic short stories by Edgar Allen Poe, Ray Bradbury, and Roald Dahl. Students will write their own strange and mysterious story during this unit as well.
Our first story, “Dark They Were, and Golden Eyed” by Ray Bradbury, required students to think about what life would be like in the future if we had to leave Earth and move to Mars. Students had to think critically about how they would adapt to the new Martian environment. Additionally, how would they deal with the changes that are happening to them the longer they stay in the Martian environment? Ask your child how they would handle life on Mars if they were in the same situation as the characters in the story.
Students will present their Descriptive Food Projects on Monday. Check back next week for pictures!
